The world around us is fascinating and I love to work with both words and mark-making to interpret what I see and experience. This website brings together my writing, paintings and drawings.

Writing

Words are fun to play around with, to summon up an image or tell a story. I draw from the human and natural worlds in my writing. I write short stories, often delving into other lives and exploring the extremes of war and conflict. And I write observational, lyrical or scientific pieces about wildlife and nature. Like many people, I am seriously worried about the impacts of biodiversity loss and climate change on our world. These are themes that appear in my writing.

Art

I have been experimenting with different forms of art for about fifteen years, starting with drawing and moving on to painting and other mark-making techniques. My real loves are for life drawing and landscape painting – very different disciplines. In my landscape painting, I love to build layers to create a strong sense of mood and place.
